Our History

Our History

In 1920, M.N. Wilson and his son, S. Boyd Wilson Sr., started a funeral home in Geary, Oklahoma. They operated the funeral home at that location until 1924.

From 1926-1928 they operated a funeral parlor in the Wilson Furniture Store, located at 108 N. Bickford, in El Reno, Oklahoma.

In 1928, M.N. and Boyd Sr. opened the Wilson Funeral Home at 201 S. Barker. The funeral home was operated at this location until 1947. It was then moved to the present location at 100 N. Barker, El Reno, Oklahoma.

S. Boyd Wilson Sr. retired in 1959, but remained active in the funeral home until 1974.

S. Boyd Wilson Jr. came to work with his father in 1946, and was President of the Corporation until his death in 1986.

At that point, his son, Smith B. "Smitty" Wilson III, and wife Tena, took on the tall task of being fourth generation owners. In 2016, Smitty and Tena began to look ahead into retirement and took advantage of an opportunity to allow a young family who shares the vision of extraordinary service that was set by generations before. With that, Marcus and Kristin Crawford became owners of this longstanding El Reno staple.
