August 3, 1928 - August 7, 2016
Merrill R. Nance has been welcomed home by his Lord and Savior & wife, Joyce of 63 years, Sunday, Aug. 7th, 2016. Merrill was the first born to James F. & Josie Nance, born in Hanna, Okla., August 3, 1928. Merrill has always loved his family & was honored to take on the roll of being a caring brother to his 3 brothers, Dale, DeLon, & Earl Dean as well as his 2 sisters, Betty and Shirley. Merrill enjoyed playing the All American Sport and was pitcher for the Alden Eagles. He and Joyce were faithful to cheer their children and grandchildren in all of their activities. He always quoted “Find a job that you love doing and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” Merrill loved being a salesman and making lasting friendships along the way. His life & customer service started in Okla. City for Fred Jones as a parts delivery man. Merrill’s travels took him as far as Calif., but love of family brought him back to Oklahoma, meeting the “love of his life”, Joyce Allred-Nance. They were wed May 27th, 1950 and moving to Oklahoma City, the Lord blessed them with two children, Kathy and Larry. Merrill and Joyce moved to Amarillo for 5 years, working as a Tractor & Implement salesman and then in 1963 moving their family to El Reno. He then began his 32 year career for Spurlin Sales. After retirement from Spurlin Sales, the love of the farm machinery business & customers took him to Chickasha, being a salesman for Bob Lowe, Inc. for 15 years. Merrill retired again in 2004, and lovingly cared for Joyce for 9 years in the home until her death. The family would like to thank Mercy El Reno Doctors and Nursing Staff as well as Russell-Murray Hospice for their tender care for our dad & grandfather.
